General Sealants' Company History

Mr. Clyde "Bud" Boyle, CEO

The Beatles were "far out". "LBJ" was President of the U.S. And Clyde "Bud" Boyle helped pioneer a new product. The year was 1964. That year, Mr. Boyle began General Sealants, Incorporated to manufacture and market "extruded sealants" -- a moldable, sticky solid which stayed in place, in pre-formed tape or bead, and in sizes and stickiness designed for specific jobs.

These sealants were time- and work-saving innovations, especially in the construction and pipeline industries. Aerospace and composite industries sought a solution to problems of composite parts production requiring sealants which could withstand auto-claving at high temperatures without loosing viscocity. General Sealants had the answer: an extruded sealant which cured at specific temperatures and stripped clean from the die. A recent General Sealants innovation is vacuum bag sealants that can withstand temperatures upwards of 850° F.

With "Bud" Boyle's continued innovative vision, General Sealants "pushes the envelope" with sealants and adhesives in today's competitive marketplace by designing techniques to satisfy the variety of challenges that technology brings. With a "cutting edge" approach and an eye on the global marketplace, General Sealants also realizes their duty to their clients to keep formulas and product quality consistent.

As a major force in the sealant market for over 30 years, General Sealants fields a wide range of coatings, specialized adhesives, as well as the largest line of extruded sealants commercially available. Clients quickly learn why General Sealants slogan is, "Stick with the leader!".
